West Virginia Northern Community College (WVNCC) unveiled its Student Success Center renovation at a ribbon cutting this morning in conjunction with the celebration of its founding, 50 years ago today. The Student Success Center is located on the Wheeling Campus on the first floor of the B&O Building. In addition to cutting the ribbon, the College also commemorated its opening on May 9, 1972.

The Student Success Center co-locates many student services in one space, making it easier for them to navigate their college experience. The space includes a walk-up service center, recruiting space, admissions, financial aid, testing, advising, career services and more.

“We have transformed our entire student services operation to become even more student centric,” commented WVNCC President Dr. Daniel Mosser. “By bringing these essential student services into one location, we have created an efficient and attractive space for our students that will enhance their experience at Northern. This is the perfect way to celebrate the College’s 50th birthday.”

New Student Success CenterThe first floor of the B&O Building was remodeled to include additional services, offices, furniture and college branding. The space also includes an area for students to hang out while on campus. “The new space has a completely different look and feel,” added Mosser. “We have created a more open and welcoming space for students to convey a greater sense of belonging while on campus.”

In addition to the Student Success Center, the first floor now includes space for recruiters to meet with prospective students and their families. The WVNCC Foundation and Alumni Office has also been relocated to the main lobby, making it easier to connect with alumni and friends of the college.
