Paying for college
One of your main concerns is probably how will you afford college? We feel this should never be a roadblock! Your college tuition may be entirely FREE with a WV Invests Grant, and you could graduate with little or no debt with your Associate degree. See if you qualify! Even if you aren’t eligible, on average you will spend 36% less to attend Northern compared to other four-year, public colleges. We are the most affordable community college in West Virginia and 83% of our students who apply for financial aid receive it. Find out your eligibility for federal and state financial aid, grants, scholarships, loans, and work-study programs, based on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Plus, check out all of our scholarships available! On average over 226 of our students receive over $280,000 in scholarships annually.
Stand out
Our average class size is 11 students to 1 instructor so you will get the personal attention you need as you transition into college.
Learn from the best
Our courses are taught by faculty who have the same educational background as instructors who teach at four-year colleges and universities. Plus, many of our faculty have spent years in their field and are excited to pass along their real world experience to you!
Social life
We have spaces on each campus to study or hang out and meet new friends. Plus you can get involved in Student Government Association, numerous clubs, intramural sports and more! Make sure you attend one of the dozens of fun (and often yummy) events that are sponsored by our Student Activities!
Resources
We have many resources available to assist you in your journey. Make sure you take advantage of our Academic Resource Center which includes the Library and Tutoring Center, Career Services, and more.
