Admission Requirements
PROGRAM ADMISSION INFORMATION:
Admission to the Clinical Medical Assisting, AAS program requires:
- Completion of an Allied Health 1+1 Application, payment of $25 application fee, and submission of a resume to the Admissions Office;
- cumulative GPA of 2.25; and
- successful completion of the Administrative Medical Assisting, CAS program. Students who have not yet graduated from this CAS program must be set to complete all remaining graduation requirements by the end of the summer 2024 semester.
All high school and college transcripts must be on file at least 5 business days prior to the published deadline. High school transcripts may not have been required for admission to the Administrative Medical Assisting program, so Clinical Medical Assisting applicants should double-check that these have been submitted.
Students who apply by March 26, 2024 will receive priority consideration. The final deadline is August 1, 2024. Applicants should check their WVNCCC email account regularly for updates from the Admissions Office.
Students granted admission must be submit a $200 deposit to confirm their spot in the program and successfully complete a background check, drug screening, and physical examination by their physician.
A minimum grade of a "C' is required in all courses to remain in the program and graduate.
FINANCIAL INFORMATION:
Students applying for admission to the Clinical Medical Assisting, AAS program will be required to complete the following:
- A physical examination as per the Allied Health Department Health Record. (Students schedule with their own physicians)
- Purchase uniforms, sphygmomanometer, and stethoscope. These can be purchased through the college bookstore using financial aid funds. Students will also be required to purchase shoes and a watch as described in program orientation.
