LPN to RN Bridge Program Admission Requirements
Applicants requesting admission to the WVNCC Associate Degree Nursing Program, LPN to RN Bridge Program, must first meet the requirements for general admission to the college, including foundation requirements in math, reading, and English.
General Requirements for the WVNCC LPN to RN Bridge Program Option Admission
- High school graduate or equivalent (GED/TASC). Graduates of a non-US high school must obtain TASC/GED.
- English proficiency
- 2.5 cumulativecollege GPA
- Pre-nursing admission exam Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) Composite Score of 58 or higher.
- An active unencumbered LPN License.
- Completion of the following pre-requisites: ENG 101 and BIO 114 or BIO 220 with a “C-grade or better”.
- A current and unrestricted student, having submitted Nursing application by the program deadline.
- Complete interview with program director or designee.
- Applicants must be able to meet the “Technical Standards” as outlined in the Student Nursing Handbook in manner that does not endanger themselves or others.
- Upon acceptance, students must pay $200 deposit to confirm their spot in the program and successfully complete a background check, drug screening, and physical examination by their physician.
- Mandatory attendance at the nursing program orientation as well as at the IT orientation is required before starting the program.
Ineligibility for Admission/Readmission
A student is not eligible for admission/readmission/reinstatement to the WVNCC Nursing Program at any campus, under any status (including admission as a new, transfer, reinstate, or readmitted student) for any of the following reasons:
- The student earned a final clinical grade of a “F” OR Unsatisfactory in the clinical component of any nursing course.
- The student has been readmitted/ reinstated once.
- The student was in violation of the WVNCC Code of Conduct at the time of withdrawal, failure or dismissal from the nursing program.
- The student was on probationary status from Nursing Disciplinary Committee or Director action.
- Positive drug screen (initial or random).
- Refusal to complete random drug screen.
- Student who attempts the TEAS Test two times or more over the course of one year without earning the minimum score of 58 is ineligible for consideration during that application cycle.
Licensure Requirements:
Applicants to the Associate Degree Nursing Program must be eligible to meet the requirements for licensure in the state of West Virginia as stated in the West Virginia Code.
These state licensure conditions include:
- Be a high school graduate or equivalent
- Be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Be at least 18 years of age
The Board of Examiners for Registered Professional Nurses may deny testing to any applicant proven guilty of certain infraction such as, but not limited to fraud, felony, domestic violence, or moral misconduct (Chapter 30, Article 7, Section 11, Code of West Virginia.)
LPN-to RN Nursing Bridge Program Requirements: Initial 2024
