West Virginia Northern Community College (Northern), with campuses located in Weirton and in Wheeling, is already meeting with and supporting students impacted by the recent announcement by Eastern Gateway Community College (EGCC) of a “pause in registrations and enrollment beyond the spring term.” Two of Northern’s three campuses are located within a 10–25-minute drive from EGCC’s Steubenville campus. Northern also boasts an extensive array of online courses that can be completed from a distance.
"We are deeply committed to the success and well-being of every student. In times of transition, our priority is to provide a supportive environment where students can seamlessly continue their educational journey. Northern’s close proximity enables impacted students to continue their studies either online from home or via a short commute to one of Northern’s conveniently located campuses," said Dr. Daniel Mosser, President of West Virginia Northern Community College.
WVNCC offers former EGCC students living in West Virginia the possibility of free tuition through WV Invests or for students living in Ohio, Northern offers affordable in-state tuition rates. Northern provides a diverse range of programs, mirroring many of the offerings at EGCC, including Nursing, Radiography, Criminal Justice, CDL, Welding, Business, Education, and more.
WVNCC’s summer registration is now open. Fall registration starts on April 16, 2024. To provide prospective students with a firsthand look at the opportunities available, Northern will host a Start Here Admissions and Financial Aid event on March 11, 2024 from 5 -8 pm on all campuses as well as an Open House on April 13, from 9:30 a.m. to noon.
