WVNCC to offer Computer Aided Design classes
Posted 09/02/22For the first time, West Virginia Northern Community College (WVNCC) will be offering Computer Aided Design (CAD) classes on its Wheeling Campus, starting September 28, 2022. The course will run Wednesdays and Thursdays for five weeks from 6 – 10 p.m.
CAD digitally creates 2D drawings and 3D models in the field of architecture or engineering and is an innovative way to share, review, simulate, and modify designs before being finalized. WVNCC specifically uses AutoCAD software which is used in all phases of design for manufacturing, infrastructure, building construction, and more.
WVNCC received a $85,00 Advance Grant from the West Virginia Community and Technical College System to purchase 15 brand new CAD stations for training. WVNCC’s new CAD lab is located in its Industrial Technology Center.
“CAD skills are highly sought after in the Ohio Valley, especially in the areas of energy, manufacturing, technical engineers, HVAC, and local government,” said WVNCC Vice President of Economic & Work Development, Dr. Phil Klein. “We are excited to have the means and technology available to fulfill this need in our community. This program is perfect for someone who wants to learn a new skill and switch careers or advance in their current company.”
The courses being offered will allow students to sit for the Autodesk’s AutoCAD Certified User Certification exam, which they can take at WVNCC following the successful completion of the course. Anyone interested can register online at wvncc.coursestorm.com/category/auto-cad or call 304-214-8968.
