Admission Requirements
Surgical Technology Program Admission Requirements Admission to the Surgical Technology, AAS program requires:
- completion of an Allied Health Application payment of $25 application fee, and submission of a
resume to the Admissions Office; and - an overall GPA of 2.50 is preferred and required for early acceptance. If space is available, a GPA of 2.49 – 2.0 will be considered.
Surgical Technology is a limited enrollment program. Candidates must submit an Allied Health Application (in addition to completing a regular degree seeking application) and pay an application fee. Applicants must be eligible to take college-level English and Math without supplement. All appropriate records from high school, previous colleges, and standardized placement scores must be received in the Admissions Office before the application is reviewed. All high school and college transcripts must be on file at least 5 business days prior to the published deadline. Early application is highly recommended. See form for application dates.
Applicants should check their WVNCC email account regularly for updates from the Admissions Office. Students granted admission must submit a $200 deposit to confirm their spot in the program and successfully complete a background check, drug screening, and physical examination by their physician.
A minimum grade of a "C' is required in all courses to remain in the program and graduate. BIO 115 and AHS 103 credits earned more than 3 years prior to the start of the Surgical Technology program must be repeated.
