Dr. Daniel Mosser
President
Dr. Mosser served in a similar role from 2001-2010 at Prince George’s Community College (PGCC). At PGCC, he reconnected the college with the local business community by creating the Workforce Development Institutes (WDI). WDI provides businesses, government agencies, and educational institutions with a collaborative forum for action planning that addresses local economic and workforce development needs as well as forecasted and emerging growth trends. WDI landed several six- and seven-figure government grants and corporate donations including $1M from Gaylord Hotels to start-up the Hospitality and Tourism Institute (HTI) which included new associate degrees in Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management. Additionally, a $5M gift from The Peterson Companies, developer of National Harbor, to start-up an institute-like MBE/DBE accelerator program – a business development solution in support of National Harbor’s minority firm participation goals. At that same time, Dr. Mosser and HTI landed a $2.2M US Department of Labor – High Growth Job Training Initiative grant to train chefs and hospitality managers in PGCC’s new AAS degree programs while nearly doubling annual FTEs from 2,200 to 4,200 in just nine years. As an outcome, Culinary Arts was the second largest group of graduates at PGCC’s 2018 Spring Commencement.
Dr. Mosser also served previously as the VP for Education and Workforce Development at Associated Builders Contractors (ABC) where he was responsible for the planning and delivery of all education, training, and safety programs offered nationally by this trade association serving more than 105,000 participants annually. This included school-to-career, craft & apprenticeship training, safety & health, management & supervisory training, and executive development programs. Dr. Mosser re-established the association’s philanthropic arm, secured its first $500K federal OSHA training grant, established the Trimmer Fellows program, obtained the first $1M corporate gift, and raised the first $6M in training grants and corporate donations.
Dr. Mosser also worked for the National Association of Home Builders as Director of Curriculum and Instruction where he planned and directed federal grants including a model program for construction skill standards, skill assessment, and skill certification; integrating academic and vocational curricula; providing technical assistance and instructor training for Job Corps, school-to-career, and career & technical education (CTE) teachers.
Dr. Mosser earned a Bachelor of Science in Technology Education from California University of Pennsylvania. He received his M.Ed from the University of Maryland in Career and Adult Education and his PhD in Industrial Technology and Occupational Education with a minor in Measurement and Statistics from the University of Maryland.
