West Virginia Northern Community College (WVNCC) will offer a 5-week Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Training on its Weirton Campus starting July 5, 2022. The course will run Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. daily.
The CNA program prepares individuals for an entry-level position in the healthcare field. Certified nurse assistants work closely with patients under the supervision of a registered nurse. The CNA provides important information about patient conditions to nurses and is vital to the daily operations of a skilled nursing facility, home health organization, or hospital. After program completion, prospective nursing assistants take a competency examination to become certified.
“This is a great opportunity to train people quickly and help local healthcare facilities that desperately need CNAs,” said Ms. Karri Mulhern, WVNCC Executive Director, Business Services and Corporate Training. “CNA is not only a rewarding career but is also the perfect pathway for anyone looking to pursue other opportunities in healthcare such as nursing or patient care technician. Program completers can receive college credit towards WVNCC’s Patient Care Technician Certificate – a one-year program.”
The CNA program consists of 65 hours of classroom instruction and 55 contact hours of clinical instruction. The cost of the program is $1,999, which includes textbooks and the state certification exam. Financial Aid may be available for those who qualify. Anyone interested can register online or call 304-214-8968.The College also offers CNA training on its Wheeling and New Martinsville Campuses.
