WVNCC welcomes Mike Freeman as new EMS Program Director
Posted 07/29/24West Virginia Northern Community College (WVNCC) announces the appointment of Mike Freeman as the new Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Program Director. With over 43 years of experience in EMS, Freeman brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the College.
Freeman's career began in upstate New York, where he worked for the 911 provider for the City of Rochester for 14 years. Starting as an EMT, he advanced to Paramedic and later served as the Training/Quality Assurance Director. In 1995, Freeman relocated to the Ohio Valley, continuing his work as a Paramedic for a local EMS service and joining Jefferson Community College (Eastern Gateway Community College) as an adjunct instructor in the EMS program. He eventually advanced to EMS Program Director, a role he held for 29 years until the college's recent closure.
"I am excited to join WVNCC and contribute to the continued growth and development of the EMS program," said Mike Freeman. "I look forward to working with our instructors and students to provide the highest quality education and training for our future EMS professionals."
Freeman remains actively engaged in the EMS field, having served as a flight paramedic in West Virginia for the past 15 years, currently with Healthnet Aeromedical. Additionally, he serves as a Firefighter/Paramedic with his local fire department in Scio, OH. Freeman holds an Associate Degree in Fire Technology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Safety Management.
